Following the Timberwolves’ win over the Grizzlies, Dante Cunningham was arrested on domestic assault allegations early Thursday morning.
There was allegedly an altercation in his home around 4am, and he was booked into Hennepin County Jail at 6:14am. He’s being held without bail pending charges. No charges have been filed in the case yet. Here’s the story from MyFox9:
Minnesota Timberwolves forward Dante Cunningham was arrested early Thursday morning in Wayzata, Minn. on allegations of domestic assault.
Cunningham, 26, was booked into the Hennepin County Jail shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday, where he was being held without bail. Charges have not yet been filed.
Police were called to a home on Medina Road at about 4 a.m. Thursday. The woman involved in the alleged assault did not require medical treatment. Cunningham left the scene shortly after the incident but returned to the home, spoke to police and did not resist arrest.
Wolves travel to Florida early this afternoon to take on a back-to-back with the Heat on Friday and the Magic on Saturday. Cunningham won’t travel with the team. Here’s a statement from the team regarding the matter:
“We are aware of the matter involving Dante Cunningham and are in the process of gathering more information. Dante will not be traveling with the team to Miami this afternoon. The Minnesota Timberwolves organization takes the matter very seriously and does not condone the type of behavior that is associated with this situation. However, we need to let the legal process run its course, and will have further comment at the appropriate time.”
His contract expires after this season and he’ll be an unrestricted free agent.
