Kevin Garnett to join TNT’s ‘Inside the NBA’

Kevin Garnett has been publicly retired for less than a month. Upon the news, the predictions for the Wolves’ all-time greatest player swirled.

“He’s gonna find a way to buy the Wolves.”

“He’s gonna sign with the Clippers late in the year.”

“He’ll go into coaching. I know what he said. It’s happening.”

“He’ll disappear never to be seen again.”

It looks like he’s going another route.

The Pioneer Press reports KG will join the ranks of (the legendary) Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley, and Shaquille O’Neal starting next Thursday. An always-entertaining crew, the Inside the NBA collective is often known more for its fun than its gauntlet of knowledge.

I’ve never seen Kevin Garnett in this type of setting before, but he will be a fun time in the Turner Studios at absolute worst. Remember his press conference after he was traded back to Minnesota?

Imagine him joking around with his old buddy Shaq.

This has the chance to be a great move for the Turner group, especially if it turns out that Garnett has Chris Webber-like ability to break down basketball. All of us that grew up watching KG, or even just watched him groom KAT this past season, know he knows the game. This has the potential to be a lot of fun.

Either way, Wolves fans will get a chance to see KG on the national stage once again.

In addition, it looks like the coaching bit might happen, to a certain degree. Soon after the unveiling of this news, a Woj bomb hit the internet.

Whether the Wolves would be interested in such a gig for KG, or KG would reciprocate that interest. Later, Woj added more context.

Stay tuned for more. It’s clear KG won’t be disappearing into the sunset, never to be heard from again. He’s clearly still driven, and his future will still be in the public eye. This is gonna be fun.
